Letters from current owners of our puppies

Letter 12-14-2004

Hi Devona,

Remember us? We got a puppy, Molly, from Tootsie's April litter. Just wanted to check in and let you know how much we love her. Molly is about 25 pounds. We have moved to Michigan and she LOVES the snow. Now we have 10 acres and she loves the yard and woods. My boys take her out to play every morning and afternoon. She hangs around in the house most of the rest of the time with us and is 99% housebroken. My children who were afraid of dogs absolutely love her and my one year old and Molly lay on the floor with arms around each other. Today, she was out in the snow and I thought she was asking to come in. She wouldn't come in - I think she wanted the boys to come out! : )

We are very pleased with her--she is a wonderful family dog for us.

Hope you are doing well. Moving has given me an appreciation for the task and anyone else in the process.

God bless you,

Gian

Devona,

Gabby is doing great! She has the sweetest personality and is very playful and fun. The boys adore her and she seems to feel the same about them. She is plays with them quite a bit, but also likes to watch over them. All of our friends and family love her, too.

As she has grown, she has developed the most beautiful coat. She has flecks of gold and brown on her back and a cute little heart shape on her butt! She has an incredibly expressive face and tilts her head to the side like her dad. Jim is out of town right now, but will be back sometime this weekend. He'll send some pictures then.

Thanks for the great little friend.

Hi! Devona,

Gypsy is doing great.  She weighs 5 1/2 pounds now.  She really loves Kirby.  The picture of her with the bow on her head was taken after we finished opening presents on Christmas eve.  She was quite tired after helping everyone open their presents.  The one with the snow was taken in my mother's backyard.  The last one was taken last week at our house.  She has a lot of fun chasing Kirby around the backyard.  She really likes it outside.  If it wasn't so cold up here, she probably wouldn't come back in.

Sincerely,
Vanissa

Devona,
Well a picture is worth a thousand words  they say so I am sending one attached.
Kristy will have  her first formal training session  this evening at Pet Smart.   She has learned  her name and tells us when she needs to go out.  She likes to "shake" hands and lies down when told along with sit and come.  She has had a few occasions recently to be around dogs and she  seems to enjoy it after her initial uncertainty.  She does not however like to see her reflection in the door or a mirror surface and it is an occasion to go in the opposite direction.  We are  working on "wait"  which will be important if my hands are full or  I am less sure on my feet at some point(when coming in from outdoors).
She is a smart thing and  loves the snow .  She likes to burrow in it and stretch out  and pines to go out  in it just to play. We also walk to the end of the lane and  I am hopeful that she will someday make it around the block which is about and .8 of a mile but too far for her now. When I say "home", she looks at me and we turn around and we take off for home. She seems to love to run. She also loves to " go find Rebecca"and looks forward to her coming home for school.   We are hoping that tonights experience and the lessons that follow with give her a play opportunity with the other puppies, which the trainer is suppose to provide time for.
We also signed up for the  4 visit program with our Vet and it turns out she had an Aussie(full size)  She seems to genuinely like her and will  spay Kristy  in May.  Kristy will have a  detector implanted in case she gets away or is stolen. I have to say she seems to invite a lot of couriosity . I may have told you far more than you wanted to hear but  she  occupies a large part of our lives  . I will send the pic.'s seperately....Sarah

Disney and Koko sure had a long list for Santa this year - they asked
for treats (they especially like those bones that Mom gets them), toys
and lots of time to wrestle and have fun!

They're both doing wonderfully - they love to play outside and when
they're not there - they're inside sleeping or cuddling up for some
loving with the family. They're both wonderful with the boys and the
boys love the two girls alot - even though they're girls ;-) They're
dealing with the craziness of the holidays really well - seem to be
taking the hustle and bustle in stride. The fact that we had 13 people
in the house at Thanksgiving didn't seem to phase either of them, they
just slept under the dining room table. They have yet to meet a
stranger - they absolutely love everyone! And everyone loves them right back!

Happy Holidays!

Devona -

Cricket is doing great!  She is a very smart little dog - walks well on a leash and learned "sit" in one lesson.  She loves her walks - she usually gets 3 per day.  She will help hold her leash in her mouth whenever we start out to make sure I know which way to go!  She is not much of a barker, unless horses walk by our house.  For some reason she thinks she can take them on.  We are starting her in obedience classes next week, which should be a lot of fun.

Unfortunately we lost our golden to cancer of the spleen back in November (she was almost 15; she had a good life) so now Cricket is an only dog.  However, I think she believes that she is one of the children.  She rides with us when I drop them off at school and cries when they get out and leave her.  She's always glad when they come home and demands that they play with her.  She's a great "fetcher" and does a good job of knowing the difference between dog toys and kid toys.

We had her spayed right at 6 months and she had no problems with that and is now totally healed up.

Everywhere we take her we have to explain her breed; everyone falls in love first with her looks and then with her personality.  She's very personable and loves to be held.  My mom is so enamored of her that she even made her a coat so Cricket won't get cold outside!  She has had fun with the snow this past week.  She likes to run and then slide in it.

She is still small; only about 8 pounds.  Her coat has come in beautifully; shiny and full.  Compared to a golden she does not shed at all!

As you can tell, Cricket is definitely one of the family and seems very happy with us; we are with her!  Thanks, Devona!

Hi Devona,

I don't know if you've gotten internet access yet, but I realized that I've had Jesse for a month today and I wanted to send you an update. He is doing wonderfully, and he is such a sweet, fun companion. He's had a busy month with 2 vet appointments, getting neutered, housebreaking, learning commands, and traveling between Hickory and Chapel Hill. I'm so impressed with how smart he is! Housebreaking was almost too easy after the initial adjustment period. He's had only one accident since we came back to the apartment in Chapel Hill 2 weeks ago. We've also started training, and he's learning very quickly and usually obeys well. He loves going to the dog park and playing with the other dogs, most of whom are about three times his size. He can definitely hold his own. He also had a great time with my parents' two dogs (and cat) while we were home for the holidays. He even likes getting baths! I included a picture of him and me with my sisters and the collies from Christmas, and an adorable picture of him taken here in the apartment.

Thanks for raising him to be such a sweet, loving puppy in his first 6 months--he's just wonderful! Hope you're well--All the best,

Katherine

Hi Devona,

I adopted my mini aussie, Jesse, from you in December 2004.  I look at your website periodically, mostly just to see pictures of the puppies.  I can’t think of anything cuter than a mini aussie puppy!  Jesse was 6 months old when I got him from you, and he was very shy and quiet, though very good.  He is no longer shy, but he has become a confident, friendly dog who loves to explore and greet people (sometimes a little too eagerly).   I just wanted to send you an update to let you know what a wonderful dog he has grown to be.  He’s just over 2 years old now, and he’s about 22 pounds.  He finished his training class and has excellent manners most of the time (unless he sees a squirrel).  He loves going for long walks with me in the evening and going home to Hickory to play with my parents’ dogs.  Everywhere we go, he attracts attention and people want to know what kind of dog he is.  Women think he’s the cutest thing they’ve ever seen, and guys are very impressed with how fast he runs and how well he catches the ball.  At the dog park, he can manage to herd all the other dogs into a big circle.  Basically, he is completely adorable and charming, and I am so glad that I found him.  Just thought you might like to know how brilliant and loved another of your puppies is.  Hope all is well—

 Katherine
